Top shaving tips for your closest, smoothest shave yet

Every morning men stand in front of their bathroom mirrors in the hope of executing the perfect shave, yet seldom do they leave for work with that ideal baby-smooth feel. Instead skin irritation, blemishes and redness have replaced the stubble that once adorned your chin.

1. The right tool for the job

No matter how much shaving foam or gel you use, a blunt razor or a cheap blade on a disposal is not the precision tool you want for the job. It may cost a bit more, but better, shaper blades mean a closer, cleaner shave.

2. Rekindle the lost art of wet-shaving

Prep your face and keep it as wet as possible with plenty of hot water before and during your shave. It is preferable to shave after a hot shower, otherwise wash your face thoroughly with hot water or apply a hot towel to open pores, soften whiskers and relax facial muscles. This creates the perfect conditions for your blade to effortlessly glide over your skin.

3. Quality begets quality

A quality shaving gel or cream can mean the difference between the ultimate clean shave or a slice-n-dice slasher movie experience. Glycerin-based products are best and a proper application brush can make all the difference.

4. Moisturise

Shaving can remove vital moisturise from your skin, regardless of your approach. So after your shave, rinse your face off with warm water and pat it dry before applying a suitable moisturising lotion to leave your skin feeling refreshed and revitalised throughout the day.
